The Baker And The Cake

Updated: Aug 12, 2020

Once, there was a baker who wanted to make the perfect cake.

He went to the market and bought the roundest and whitest eggs. He also shopped for the creamiest flour, the purest and sweetest sugar, and butter squeezed from the top cows in the village.

He mixed all the perfect ingredients together and created the batter with extreme care. The baker then set the oven to just the right heat in preparation for the tastiest cake to be ever made. Excited, he poured the wet batter snuggly in the best pan he owned. Once the batter has comfortably settled in her place, the baker popped it gently in the oven and closed the door.

Inside the oven, the cake began to blindly wake and stir. Feeling extreme heat burning her from all sides, she wailed, 'Why has the baker abandoned me in such a place?! He has been with me from the start, mixing and molding-- lovingly constructing me from the best ingredients. Now my creator has left me here to burn to ash!'

Truly believing she has been left there to perish, the cake forced the oven door to open.

To her relief, the hot air escaped quickly out to the night. Then, her relief turned to horror as her fluffy form deflated. The baker, hearing the commotion, rushed towards the deformed cake.

Dismayed, he exclaimed, 'Why didn't you trust me? The hot air was there to make you rise and take shape. Once you let the heat escape, your potential escaped with it. Have I not crafted you with pure love and kindness? You should have had patience and trusted that I put you there for a reason!'

Trust the process. 🌸
